There is nothing quite as special as seeing your first born become a big brother or sister. Of course you would love to capture some moments between them during your newborn photoshoot, but maybe you’re worried about how to hold their attention or whether they will want to be involved.

The first and most important thing to remember is to relax. My whole studio set up is designed to create a relaxing experience and to help keep siblings engaged and having fun. You have full use of a bedroom attached to the studio, which has toys, a big bed to relax on and even a tv. In between photos your eldest child can play, snuggle, eat snacks and even have a peek at my house rabbits if they would like to. This means we only need to call them in when they are needed for a photo but for the rest of the time anything goes!

If you are up for some bribery, then so am I. Some parents bring little chocolates and give their eldest a treat after each photo, some promise a little present, some don’t do either. I also have some tricks up my sleeve! A huge hit is letting them press the camera button. The most important thing is to do what ever works for you and what you are comfortable with, I am always on hand to help get your little one involved and give them little prompts such as “can you give the baby a little kiss?” or “I think they would really like to hold your hand.”

I understand that children sometimes need a break or I need to change up the way we are doing things. I am led totally by both of your children and it is my job to be flexible and accommodate their needs. As long as you relax and have fun, then so will they.
