how to prepare your home for your Poole newborn photoshoot
how to prepare your home for your poole newborn photoshoot
I often get lots of questions about how to prepare for your newborn photography session at home and the truth is, not much.
My style of newborn photography is natural, so I wont be bringing any big props with me. I usually suggest using your main bedroom for the photoshoot which is perfect for individual photos of your baby and for a cuddle together as a family on your bed. It may be worth putting on some neutral bedding if you have some, and clearing any obvious things like cups and phone chargers. Although it really doesn’t need to be ‘perfect',’ I can often work around things and move you to a different position.
Let as much light as you can into the bedroom by pulling curtains or blinds. Natural window light is gorgeous, and I will often stand you near the window for some extra family shots.
I also recommend turning your heating up during the colder months so that your baby stays comfortable and warm during the session.
Ahead of the session it is also important to think about what you will all be wearing. I have some beautiful dresses and newborn outfits in my client wardrobe that you are welcome to use. I recommend muted colours and neutrals, try to avoid bright colours and crazy patterns as it will distract from the moment in the picture.
Lastly, relax and enjoy the moments with your new baby. My newborn sessions are very relaxed and totally baby led. So there will be plenty of time for feeding, coffees and snacks.
