Sandbanks Beach

With Dorset’s vast sweeping coastline, the rolling hills of the New Forest and flower and wheat fields dotted all over, location options in Dorset and Hampshire are endless. Here I will tell you all about my favourite places, and what is so special about each of them.

Studland Bay in Dorset is the perfect backdrop for your family photoshoot. Here you can nestle in the beautiful sand dunes, run across the open beach and paddle in the calm waters. One of my favourite things about Studland, asides from it’s beauty, is how quiet it usually is.

Sandbanks Beach is another firm favourite of mine. It is easily accessible from the carpark and is just a short walk to the sand dunes. Two things that Sandbanks has in addition to Studland are the rock groynes and at certain times of the year there are colourful flowers in the sand dunes.

In late July/ August we are blessed with golden wheat fields across Dorset. There is nothing quite like the fluffy wheat to create a warm golden backdrop for your family photoshoot. One of my favourite fields is in Tarrant Rushton.

Also in August, for around 2-3 weeks, you will find the most beautiful sunflower field in Dorchester at Maiden Castle Farm. There is something really special about being amongst a field of sunflowers with your family, making memories as the sun sets.

The New Forest in Hampshire is home to many beautiful forest areas and stunning landscapes. You will find some of the most beautiful at Ornamental Drive, it’s like something out of a movie as you drive down the road with trees towering above you at either side. In the Autumn, the earth tones of the orange and brown leaves are particularly breathtaking and help to create beautiful family photos.
